Rebuilding with salvaged timber after South Africa's worst forest fire

Rebuilding with salvaged timber after South Africa's worst forest fireIn June of 2017, a devastating fire started in a mountainous area in Elandskraal, South Africa. Due to an unusually dry summer and small, unprotected fires, it quickly spread north and engulfed Plettenberg Bay before reaching the village of Knysna. The fire killed seven people and destroyed over 1,000 homes and businesses, leaving at least 10,000 citizens without a place to live.
